We have enough space to do the garden. Our backyard used to be my area for gardening. But I want to try something different. I decided to do my garden in pots like the picture above. RN License Renewal

Time flies by the milliseconds or maybe faster. It's not long ago, I blogged about nursing school then graduation and eventually got a job as a nurse and now I am due to renew my license. I am not complaining rather reminiscing where the times went? I know I had been busy all my life here in the land of uncle Sam to be precise. I need more than 24hours in a day to fulfill my humane needs and wants. This year I haven't had a chance to leisurely walk in the mall shopping. My favorite past time for goodness sake!

License renewal is very expensive it costs a whooping $125, good for 2 years to practice. That's not only it, I need to accomplish 30 continuing education units which also costs at least $35. These 2 should be accomplished not later than May 31st. I also need to renew my CPR for healthcare provider and I am also working on my advance cardiac life support license and my peripheral IV/phlebotomy certifications. So many things to do, too little time to accomplish. I maybe too ambitious but its my only way to be ahead of the game called professional competitiveness.

I am thankful I have a decent paying job or else I wouldn't be able to afford keeping up all the necessities to perform legally. I can't imagine other people who earn less than myself, plus mortgage & car payments to boot. I will surely go nuts. Do I have to complain for my license renewal fee?

A group of good friends went to dinner last night at a new restaurant in town that has been receiving great reviews. We were celebrating one friend’s birthday! No one should be alone on their birthday and since most of us are single and have grown children, we gather with one another on those special days to celebrate life and friendship. We laughed so much last night that I thought we might be disruptive to the other patrons in the restaurant. Our conversation varied, as always, from children to men to expertsatellite to decorating to work. The birthday girl is an interior designer so we love to hear about her current project and pick up a new trick or two! Our meal was delicious! We all ordered the same entrée! We had some beautifully presented fabulous trout, wonderful sautéed kale, and the cabbage salad was divine. It had purple and green cabbage, blue cheese crumbles, dried cranberries, granola for added crunch, and was tossed in a mint dressing that was to die for! And we drank a lot of wine. It was a very special evening with great friends!

Life changing

When I started working nights, I don't go out shopping--planned or unplanned. I used to drive to the mall and stroll around buy anything I like. The only time I went to the mall was last Monday, I stopped by at the body shop to buy my shampoo, yes I am picky when it comes to shampoo, it has been 3 days since I ran out of it but since, I was working last weekend I just put it on hold. I just used whatever was available. Anyway I got freebies on my visit, yay for me!

I haven't visited my friend in Marlton, I used up all my time if not sleeping, doing household chores or simply staying home and befriend my pillows. I don't even cook. Never done grocery shopping in a long time. That's a big change because I am frequent to the supermarket. I just put a list of things on the fridge for the husband to pick at the store.

Working out had become a chore for me. I don't get as much exercise as I used to. I know working nights is not an excuse but I just need more energy and get back my usual enthusiasm to get in shape. Even if I hadn't exercise that much I still kept my weight. That's good news.

Boring Routine

My husband and I are in a boring routine, and I want to get out of it and start living again. We each get up and go to work around 8:00 am, and get home around 6:30 pm. After we get home we get dinner started and put on our DIRECT TV. We have certain shows we watch each night, and we almost never go out to eat or meet friends. We are so tired at night after a long day at work, that we can barely muster up the energy to cook and watch some TV. I want to start making more of an effort to spend time with our friends, and not become old farts before we should. I know eventually we will have kids and we won’t be able to do these things so it’s important we do them now. I miss my friends, and I know my husband does too. Our careers are important, but they aren’t everything. I worry that if we don’t change soon we’ll lost touch with our friends and end up with none.

3rd week at a new job

It's my 2nd for my 3 nights a week job at a new place. So far, I'm loving it. I have no boss to be worry of. I guess people who have day jobs knew what I'm talking about. I only have to worry emergencies that may arise other than that, I am paid just for being up and talking with other employees who have nothing better to do but just be awake. The hard part is when it's 3am and its very quiet, I can't help but think I wish I could be in bed dreaming. The good part is, I had been a coffee aficionado and it blends well with my current job. I bring a big coffee mug to work and savor till the last drop.

I just hope to stay long in my current company. Well I guess with all the benefits I'm getting right now, I would be insane if I'll just let all the perks go. On my 31st day in the company(that would be next week) I will get the best medical plan anyone can have. Which made me and my husband switched from his medical to mine. It worked well, considering the country's fragile economy.

I am fortunate to get the job I like. I have a lot of choices to be with the company that I liked to belong. Unlike others who are still on the unemployment line, but me even if still have a job, I can easily switch from one company to another. It seems that I am blessed with my career but other things I am less fortunate, anyway I can't have everything. I will just enjoy the blessings.

Having a New Job

I have been in the working force for a year or so. I have worked in different places that is related to my field. I am a nurse by profession. It took me long to become a nurse. I wanted to be a nurse since I was younger but my parents couldn't afford to send me to nursing school. From where I came from, during my college years, Nursing was a very expensive course. There was no way that my parents will be able afford to send me to school financially speaking. So I ended up taking another course. Then I got an opportunity to go back to school and earn a degree of my choice when I got married. So, I didn't wasted much of my time. I studied and after 4 long years of struggle I earned my bachelors degree of nursing.

Today, I am happy with the career that I have chosen. Nursing is a job that requires a lot of hardwork but I love my job. On top of my passion for nursing work, I also get paid decently. With my job and the salary that I am earning, I am sure that if I need emergency money, I will be qualified to get a hassle-free cash lending until my payday. Right now, I don't need emergency cash but just in case something happens and I need it, I know where to get an emergency cash. I really believe that payday loans can become very handy to people who needs emergency money.

I had been meaning to blog about the lost video of our church wedding in 2010, unfortunately we haven’t seen its packaging and its contents. A part of me says not to blog countless times already. It was a beautiful wedding that we prepared for years …t’was a long overdue preparations… all the memories and emotions were there…hoping that when we get old and forget who we are, there’s one thing that would remind us that once in our life we were married to each other.

I refused to go into details, simply because I don’t want to get upset and have myself enveloped with too much disappointment. It was already gone for good. For some, they said forgive and forget, it is easy to say if one is not the concerned party. Forgive~~~ yes, but forget~~~ how can I forget when I invested so much emotion yet nobody cares? Enough said.

This is the first time in a while that I've hosted a super bowl party at my place. My friends and I normally rotate who hosts the party and I've gotten out of it quite a few times because a lot of them have bought huge TVs that they wanted to use. Well, I finally bought a big TV so of course it was automatically my turn. I thought about just picking up a bunch of food for the day, but I decided to try and make some of it at home to save a little bit of money.
I went online to see if I could find an easy wing recipe that would be decent and while I was doing that, I found some info on debt counseling. I didn't mean to search for it, but it's something that I could really use, so I'm going to look into it.

I did find a good buffalo wings sauce recipe and used them with frozen wings. I think that they went over really well and I saved the recipe to use again.

I spoke to my sister who is vacationing in the Philippines. I can hear their excitement. I wished I am with them too. I burned over 250 minutes of my long distance plan and I still have 29 more days to go till the next cycle starts. Anyway, I spoke nearly 2 hours with my mom yesterday. I am happy that she is doing fine. We talked anything in the sun. We never run out of topics to discuss, we even gossiped about the neighbors and cousins who are misbehaving lately. Mom is my source of information to keep track the juiciest part of the news available in my hometown. In short, my mom is the number one promoter of the news hips.

Last night my time, they were at the appliance store to shop for a television set, there were lots of brands available but I am very certain of not buying anything made in China that are sold in the Philippines and I have my reasons that I don't want to divulge. But here in the US especially clothing sold at discount stores, everything is made in China, what else is new! Anyhow, we decided to get the ones made in Korea and it is a LED TV, my sister initially wanted to buy a bigger screen -- a plasma tv, I disagree because it does not have the best picture considering the cable service in my town which does not offer HD service and besides we don't have cable connection yet. Since I authorized my sister to use my line of credit, I told her to ask mom which one she really likes, mom replied, she cares less of the TV, all she wants is me to come home, but my other sisters said in chorus don't go home just buy the TV! Mean sisters!

Little did mom knows that we are beefing up a surprise--a surprise that everyone will be shocked! Yes, I am coming home and I'll be there for our parents golden wedding anniversary. I know keeping a secret makes my mom's heart bleeding, it will be a bittersweet reunion with my family once again.

My friends and I were having a very interesting discussion about Facebook last night. While Facebook is a wonderful thing and something I am grateful for, I wonder if there is a little too much information on it. Nowadays, everyone is on Facebook. If you are looking for your best friend from grade school, you can find him. If you are looking for your college crush, you can find him. However, it has created an awkward line between being normal with your facebooking and being a facebook stalker. Sadly, I am starting to think more people are becoming facebook stalkers. I am sure satellite internet was initially intended to be used to gain knowledge of current events, pop culture and research. However, it seems people spend more time facebook stalking other people than actually talking to real people. The internet has become a place where everyone’s personal life is up for display. I am still wondering if this is a good thing or a bad one.

Working on Christmas Day

This coming Christmas Day would be my very first time to work on a holiday. In the past years where I was working in a different industry I always celebrate Christmas with family and friends (read vacation). Now that I switched career/profession and became a nurse, working on a holiday is always expected. I could care less with the other holidays in a year but working on Christmas Day is somewhat different. Being in the essential service industry, I have to be at work.

Don't get me wrong, I love my job and I enjoyed what I do. It gives me a lot of insights that I can forever be thankful of my health. I felt so much relief every time I get a chance to encounter different people with different challenges in their health. It is a very rewarding experience.

Finding some good Texas electricity Professionals was hard enough but the real trouble with this house was finding someone who could redo all the plumbing. We had no idea when we bought the place that there was anything wrong with the pipes but it didn’t take long for things to spiral out of control and really get crazy with costs. Turns out everything was rusty which we only noticed when the water turned brown about 2 months in and just about all the plumbing needed to be switched out. It’s turned into a huge job because they’ve had to tear open a lot of the walls and it’s something we want done right since we’re paying so much money for it. It’s tough finding a good, reliable contractor and one that won’t take forever to get the job done, too. Angie's List has been helpful but at the end of the day anyone you hire is ultimately going to be a real gamble until the work is done and over with, you know?

What would Jose Rizal—who loved being photographed—make of the uproar over taking photos near his monument at Luneta?
More than 100 photographers on Friday marched to Manila’s Rizal Park to denounce a policy by park custodians requiring commercial photographers to pay fees if they want to shoot pictures in the park, and also protest against supposed discrimination against Filipino photo-shooters.
Bernard Mejias, a spokesperson for the group Bawal Mag-Shoot Dito, told the Inquirer his group wanted to ask why Filipino photographers were banned from shooting the Rizal Monument but foreigners purportedly were not.
“Isn’t that double standard?” Mejias said, adding it was ridiculous that he and other photographers, who pay taxes, were prevented from taking pictures of a public place.

There is one thing that I am proud of where I came from, I came from a family that is close-knitted, respectful and religious. We may not have all the good things in life which money can buy but my parents were always there to support our endeavors and they have instilled in our mind that values that is worth more than money.

My husband and I have been married for 7 years. All these years, we have not been blessed with a baby yet. We are still hoping and praying that one day soon, we will be given an opportunity to become a parents to a child. I admit, I envy those couples with babies. I wish that I have one too but I guess, it is not yet time. We already did all the necessary medical intervention to help us conceive but we are not yet lucky.

Because we don't have a baby of our own, we just borrow the babies of our friends and we also keep my friends' pet. Babies and puppies give us joy . "There is no cure for insecurity"

I need not have to yell back to people at work just to make them feel good that I am affected by their behavior rather ignore them and make them look like a fool with their own actions. I don't need to stoop down to their level by arguing nonsense issues. If they hated me for having more than the basic qualifications needed, why not consider themselves applying to the different universities and probably gain a little bit of brains. Too bad my brain is way bigger than their butts.
I had just turned down a managerial position which was offered to me informally, LOL our DON faught for me by letting them people hear the offer. Oh well, I don't need a headache, I just want to teach these people by example and letting them know that in our profession it doesn't only require guts and thick faces to grab every offer to step up the ladder but it requires self-reevaluation of one's capacity to carry out the job. I know I am not ready. Let someone who is more qualified and experienced take the post. Enough said.

It is a known fact to my family and friends that I love shoes. I have all the shoes that I can think of - from casual shoes to party shoes, to sneakers, to boots and more. If I have kept all the shoes that I bought, I think I will have a room full of shoes. Some of my shoes are somewhat pricey but most of them are priced reasonably because I usually buy them out of the sale section area.

I do own few pairs of expensive shoes. I invest in good working shoes. Even if I have to pay more, I have to because being a Nurse that works a tough and demanding job, I need to have a comfortable footwear that will help me withstand the demands of my job.

Blizzard in NY

Last weekend, we went to Wespoint to watch Army-Fordam football game. Early in the week it was predicted that it's going to be raining and snow showers, but for some reason by the middle of the week the chance of bad weather went down to 10%. We we're excited about the good weather for Saturday's game. Unfortunately by Thursday night weather forecast was changed and it became Nor'easter---meaning a heavy snow shower is expected at around 4pm, for whatever reason it started snowing at around 12 noon.

We're kinda lucky on that day because we had tickets for the tailgate for the Independence ball, while the temperature dropped we we're indoors enjoying the warmth and the food and drinks. Golf cart service to the stadium were shutdown as early as 12:30 pm due to the slippery roads. So off we went to the stadium by foot, well it wasn't really that far. We ended staying inside the club level the whole time because the blizzard was really bad, but still the game didn't stopped. Our consolation on that bad weather day is Army's big win over Fordam!

When we went back to the hotel the snow was deep, and a power outage. Until we left, the power hasn't back yet. We went home early on Sunday cause I have to work at 3pm. On our way home, palisades parkway was shutdown towards Closter-Alpine NJ, we had to take a detour. When we reached Fort Lee we stopped by at a diner to get some coffee, but we ended up having a breakfast. A 12 inch snow must've accumulated in the northern part while 100 miles down the road wasn't have any trace of blizzard at all! Anyway I am glad we got home safe.

My neighbor Sherri told me that I must be a saint for putting up that kind of mess just to please my husband's addiction to football!
